Strawberry Patch

May 15, 2014

We spent Tuesday morning with our crew at Wise Acres Organic Farm picking strawberries! It was crazy hot, but we had a great time, and I think the kids loved it!  Because the berries are organic (no pesticides, chemicals sprayed on them) you can pick the berries and eat them right in the field!  Clara Jane was a little pro at this! 😉 If you’re in the Charlotte/Matthews area, I would highly recommend this farm.

After picking our strawberries we got a few strawberry lemonade smoothies (made fresh there, no sugar added!) then let the kids swing and play.  It was a fun play date!

One way we’ve used the berries is for breakfast.  This is a smoothie bowl!  We made our normal smoothie (lots of spinach; plus a little of each frozen fruit: raspberries, blueberries, pineapple; a banana; 2 Tbsp almond butter; almond milk) with fresh berries and Grain Free, Sugar Free granola on top for some crunch! Smoothie Bowl with Strawberries and Grain-Free, Sugar-Free Granola

Wow! You guys are already berry-picking. It seems like our snow just barely melted up here in Vermont. I can’t wait to take my little one into the field. Beautiful pictures! I’m jealous of your nice weather.

This makes me so sad for you! I can’t imagine it still being cold here. I hope the weather warms up very soon!! Have a great weekend!

We live in Vermont and the weather here can be cold at any time of the year. I guess we are sort of used to it but it does make us jealous sometimes of places that have longer growing seasons and lots of sunshine.
