This recipe for Broccoli with Bacon and Garlic is just a simple side dish – nothing fancy or complicated, but I wanted to record it. We eat broccoli regularly, but it is usually just steamed or roasted. Cooking it this way adds so much flavor, and is obviously appealing to guys (bacon, duh).
Also, I had to throw in a picture of my little sous chef. He helped me put all of the butternut squash in a bowl, stir it with olive oil, and he seasoned it. No joke, I had no idea what this was going to taste like, because he added the salt and pepper. It ended up so well, though!
Broccoli with Bacon and Garlic
- 4 slices bacon, chopped very small
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 3 broccoli crowns, chopped small
- 2 Tbsp water
- salt and pepper
Add the chopped bacon to a large saute pan. Place on a burner, then turn the heat to medium. Cook, stirring regularly, until the bacon is cooked (browned). Add the garlic and broccoli, and cook for a couple minutes. Make sure to toss or stir so that the bacon and bacon grease are evenly incorporated throughout the broccoli. Add the water to the pan and continue cooking, stirring every few minutes, until the broccoli is cooked through. Season with salt and pepper, and serve!
