Five on Friday

May 1, 2015

My blog has been like a roller coaster ride lately…some weeks I blog every day, and some weeks not at all.  This week has been an “on” week and I’m very happy to be back for the regularly-scheduled programming of my Five on Friday/Friday Favorites/Oh Hey Friday! posting.  And I already have some drafts written for next week, so I’m hoping to stay on top of it!

I’m linking up with April; Karli; and Erika, Andrea, and Narci today.  Hooray for Friday!

ONE: Can I please wear this exact outfit all Summer?  Maybe not the hat – I’m not sure I could pull that off.  I’ll switch it to denim shorts when it gets too hot.  Comfortable, classic, simple but chic. I would wear some color of white top every day if life with a toddler boy allowed.  Love it all.

TWO: My husband built Davis a sandbox recently, and he has really enjoyed it.  Todd designed it and built it all himself!  I’m really hoping we can take it with us to the new house…one, because I’d hate for him to have to build a replica right after he put some much time into this one, and two, because I already have another major building project in mind for the new house. 😉 It has a lid/roof, too.  Just had to brag on him!

THREE: I sound so vain to talk about my hair again.  But!  I found this on Pinterest – tips from Refinery 29 about how to style the long bob, or lob.  With my new hair, I found this helpful, and hoped it would be useful for someone else.  My favorite is the messy waves look.  I need to find some great texturizing spray – any ideas? And let’s be real for a second – I never take the time to style my hair 3 days in a row.  Ponytails and buns for the win.  But if I did, these tips are super.

FOUR: Cinco de Mayo is next week, and if you read my blog, you know I love love love Mexican food.  I have a real hard time not incorporating chips and salsa and avocados into every single one of my recipes.  Because I do have so many related recipes, and many are healthier versions of traditional Mexican food, I thought it was an appropriate time to share them again.  I’ve linked them below.  Don’t forget to enjoy a margarita with these meals! (My favorite margaritas are simple – a good tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, simple syrup if needed, salt).

FIVE: I can’t get these clothes out of my brain.  I was thisclose to purchasing both of these things from Asos the other day.  An oversized fringe clutch and an off the shoulder white blouse seem perfect for this upcoming season. There’s that white shirt obsession again. I am kicking myself for not getting this top before it sold out!

I hope you all have a great weekend!  Thank you for sticking around, even through the sporadic posts these last few weeks.

I have some good strawberry-themed posts scheduled for next week, as well as another guest post on Fresh by FTD.  Stay tuned!

I LOVE the Oribe dry texturizing spray that’s in the picture. I also really like the Bumble and bumble thickening dry spun finishing spray. Both smell amazing and give a good amount of texture and hold. The Oribe is more expensive but you get more bang for your buck at ~5 per oz vs. 7.5 per oz. PLUS if you order from Neiman Marcus you can get 9% back using ebates with free shipping too!
