New Years Eating and Exercise Plan

January 5, 2017

I have yet to come up with a list of specific New Years resolutions, but I do have a healthy eating plan for the month of January (and possibly February!).  I already eat gluten free, and I limit the dairy I eat, but I want to have an even cleaner approach to eating.  I know that grains are not the greatest for my body, and that dairy tends to make me feel pretty rough.  So for at least this month my eating and exercise plan is this:

  • No Grains
  • No Dairy
  • No Sweets
  • 3 BBG workouts each week
  • Walk a few miles each week

Keep up with what I eat each day on my instagram story!  I have also been sharing recipes there.

berries, pineapple, raw pecans, raw almonds, unsweetened coconut, chia seeds, flax seed, unsweetened almond milk

The plan is similar to Whole 30 and will be mostly Paleo. My personal rules will not be as strict as Whole 30 (allowing some legumes), and I do have some built-in cheat days.  My mom turns 60 this month so we are going to cheat for her birthday! If Todd and I are able to go on a date, we will cheat as well.  I will make some baked goods that are paleo that may have maple syrup, but will be grain-free.  Oh, and I am allowing myself wine every now and then. 😉 I feel like as a mom of 2 little boys that’s allowed.  I just know myself, and since I already eat quite healthy, I don’t think I need to be so strict.

I want to lose the baby weight, but I’m not trying to lose every last ounce.  While I’m breastfeeding I understand that I may stay several pounds heavier than my pre-baby weight, and I’m fine with that.  It’s already difficult to keep my milk supply up, so I will eat carbs, like potatoes, and plenty of healthy fats, such as nuts, avocados, and salmon.

Drinking water is key to health, and once I’m done with my coffee in the morning, it’s basically all I drink.  I did want to make it a little more exciting, so I asked for this water bottle for Christmas.  My parents got it for me, and it’s great! It’s super simple to infuse fruit, herbs, cucumber, etc into your water.  Also, any time I’m in the car or out and about for the day I take my Nalgene that’s full of water.  Drinking 4 Nalgene’s full in a day equals 1 gallon of water!

I am going to do my best to record my progress, and also share plenty of meal ideas and recipes.  Thank you for following along! Here’s to a healthy 2017!

You’re pregnant!! I ate terribly during my 3rd trimester! You’ll get back to pre-pregnancy shape easily, I’m sure! I say take advantage of this time and enjoy it. Don’t feel bad about those extra sweets. I don’t regret them at all. 😉
