I haven’t done one of these posts in a long time. I share so much on my instagram stories, but I need to be better about sharing them here as well. Reading these random list-style posts are always my favorite from other bloggers, because it’s kind of like you’re chatting with your girlfriends. We went on a girls’ day trip to Charleston back in April for a friend’s birthday, and we all shared so many fun things about what we use for skincare, etc. These kinds of posts feel like that to me! Girl talk in blog form.
Here is a very random list of some of my favorite things from this month:
Red wine and dark nails. I’ve moved on from summer nails, and painted my fingers with Lincoln Park After Dark last night!
Let’s talk skin. First, if you don’t already, you should follow Jordan Harper on instagram. She is a nurse practitioner at a plastic surgery office in Charleston, and legit has the best, most practical and easy-to-follow skincare advice.
I have used Tinkle razors for a couple years, but I haven’t always followed them with great skincare products. If you’re intimidated by shaving your face, DON’T BE! It exfoliates, gets rid of any peach fuzz, and helps your makeup go on so much more smoothly the next several days. And these peels? They’re so great. I’ve only used them 3 times, and I can already tell a difference! I wake up with my skin looking renewed! I compared them to the Dr. Dennis Gross ones (which I also like), but these seem stronger and more effective more quickly – which we all want in our skincare producsts! Jordan also suggests using a vitamin C serum in the mornings. I wanted to buy the SkinCeuticals one, but it’s just so pricey. I bought another one she suggested and it’s so effective.
Another person I love to follow is Lindsey Regan Thorne. She is a hair and makeup artist, and gives the best suggestions. She is also just as sweet in real life as she seems online. She’s been talking about these Too Faced products for a while, and I finally ordered them! I was interested in trying a new foundation, and I pulled the trigger during the Sephora sale. I really love them both! The blush-bronzer duo is so easy, and eliminates a few steps from my routine. Plus it’s just a pretty color. I am wearing color warm nude in the foundation, but I will probably switch to nude in the winter.
We’ve been in hurricane hunker-down mode around here this week. While stuck at home, I have been wearing this camo sweatshirt and it is the best! It’s a muted camo pattern, and so dang soft! It’s currently on sale, and a few sizes are left in stock, including a small (what I’m wearing).
If y’all follow me on insta, you know I wear this Anchor Beads necklace all the time! I really want to buy some of their bracelets as well. They’re a NC company, and a portion of the proceeds goes to childhood cancer research.
My latest fitness addiction is Burn Boot Camp. And the addiction is real. I’ve been going to the 5 am camps, and it’s a great way to start my day! If you live in a city with a Burn, I highly recommend it!!! I always leave SO sweaty.
During the storm my husband pulled out our air popper. He grew up eating air-popped popcorn, so we introduced it to our boys, and they were SO excited! Plus it’s just really great popcorn, and doesn’t require any oil. You can find non-GMO corn kernels at Trader Joe’s in the chip section.
Todd and I celebrated our 12th anniversary last weekend! Yes, we were babies when we got married (right after college). We know it isn’t normal to have such a happy marriage these days, and we are so so grateful. My parents kept the boys for the night, so Todd tried La Belle Helene for dinner, then went hiking the next morning! And we picked out a new car, because mine has been a hot mess lately. Story for another day.
Do you all listen to podcasts? I am a big fan, and enjoy listening to them on the way to and from the gym early in the mornings, and during nap time when I’m trying to knock out my to do list. Here are a few recent favorites:
That Sounds Fun by Annie F. Downs, interview with Samantha Ponder
That Sounds Fun by Annie F. Downs, interview with Melissa Radke
Proverbs 31 Ministry I’m Not Anxious I’m C.A.L.M.
God Centered Mom with Paul David Tripp Opportunity vs. Disruption
There are my September favorites so far! Do you all like these types of posts? If so, I will try to keep doing them!
The hurricane finally seems to have moved on from Charlotte, at least for the most part. We have a giant mess to clean up in our yard, and we are still waiting to hear about the state of our family’s home in Surf City, NC. The storm surge hit there, so it looks like we have a massive mess, and that the dunes were lost, but our house is still standing. Once we know more, I will share an update on instagram and here. A lot of people have checked in and asked about it, and I truly appreciate the concern!
I hope you all have a great Monday!

Thanks SO much, Laura! I love the day in the life posts, too!! Always so fascinating. Let me know what you think of the razors! 🙂

I like these posts, too! I’m intrigued by the razor. Does it make your upper lip stubbly? I would love to try it, but am worried about being scratchy after. I also started going to Burn about three months ago and I really love it – best workout ever!
Lindsay says
Thank you, Sarah! No, my upper lip isn’t stubbly at all! It doesn’t make my hair grow back any thicker. The only hair that truly bothers me on my face is on the far sides of my cheeks, but it’s good to shave your whole face for exfoliation and the peach fuzz. Plus it helps your makeup go on so smooth! And yes to Burn! It’s so good!!
