Five on Friday

August 30, 2013

I’m happy to be linking up with April, Darci, Christina, and Natasha again for Five on Friday.  Writing these blogs each week is something I really enjoy!  Happy weekend, everyone!

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

ONE: Last Fall I fell in love with the Autumn scent at Bath and Body Works.  I had it for Wallflowers around my house, and this year, I also bought the room spray.  It is a light, fresh scent and it makes my house smell so nice!  I feel like it’s appropriate to use now before Fall really hits – it’s not too much like pumpkin spice, a fire outside, or leaves falling.  Those scents will be used later!

TWO: I’ve been thinking about my Fall wardrobe, and all I want to wear is neutrals: cream, black, white, olive green, gray, and navy.  With gold or mixed metal jewelry.  Is that too boring?

THREE: I haven’t been eating in my normal, healthy way.  And I got sick this past week.  I haven’t been sick in a really  long time.  Like 2 years.  I’m planning to get back on track – cut out a lot of sugar and salt, eat fewer grains, and drink more water.  I typically eat vegetables every meal – I’m going to get back to this.  I’ve let myself have cereal for breakfast lately – I’m going to go back to my spinach/fruit smoothies.  This motivation from Hungry Meets Healthy is helping.

FOUR: Planning to make this Avocado and Tuna salad from Barefoot Contessa soon.  We’re going to begin training for a half marathon asap, and this would be healthy, but also nourishing and full of good fats.  I would use sriracha instead of Tabasco, and I’d go light on salt.  I think it would also be delicious with wild caught salmon.

FIVE: Spontaneous baptisms at our church last weekend.  We are in a two week series called Raised to Life.  The main goal of our church is this: “So that people far from God will be raised to life in Christ.”  Some verses on baptism: Romans 6:4, Acts 2:38-41. Watch the sermon here

We saw hundreds profess their faith in God and be baptized.  It was incredible.  Watch this video to see what I mean: Raised To Life Baptisms from Elevation Church on Vimeo.

Enjoy your weekend!

All of my fall colors are super bland too… But sky blue in fall just seems weird…

Girl, blueberries and spinach are the keys to healthy, long living. I swear by them, ha! And isn’t it awesome how B&B works have all of the fall scents. I have stocked up!
