I’m ready for this week to be over! Our baby has been really sick this week. It seems like he is almost over this virus, or whatever it is, thank goodness! He ran a high fever and was quite miserable. Davis’ cousin is sick too, and these boys are never sick!! Seeing your child feel that bad is heartbreaking. Praying it’s all over and we can enjoy this weekend!
Thank you to April, Christina, Natasha, and Darci for hosting! On to my 5.
Oh, I need to preface this…yesterday I posted about my healthy eating plan for May, but not everything in this post adheres to those rules. 😉 Also, this is a relatively superficial post: jewelry, recipes, clothes, hair. I guess I’m dreaming about glamour and cocktails after my week at home with a sick baby!
ONE: I’ve seen several fashion bloggers promote gorjana & griffin jewelry, so I took a look at the website yesterday. I love it, especially these stackable rings.

TWO: This is what I mean when I said this post won’t really adhere to my new eating rules. This gluten free coffee cake is heaven. I don’t know if it is because I haven’t eaten many sweets the last several months, but my mom made this over Easter, and I kind of wanted to sing about it when I tasted it. (Too bad no one would’ve wanted to hear me sing so I didn’t – haha!). It is gluten free but certainly doesn’t taste like there is anything “free” about it. I made it for some family guests last week and ate way too much of it. I think you could use regular all purpose or cake flour and leave out the xantham gum if you can eat gluten. Also, we didn’t make a maple topping, just whole milk or heavy cream mixed with powdered sugar for a glaze. It is such a perfect, light, moist, cinnamony coffee cake. It would be great to serve for Mother’s Day!! Pretty certain this will have to be one of my splurges once I start eating sugar again.

THREE: Another thing NOT on the eating plan…I made Pineapple Mango Margarita Cocktails with our Mexican cookout the other night. They were light and fresh and summery and a margarita. Can’t go wrong there! In honor of Cinco de Mayo happening soon, I will post the recipe in a separate post this weekend!
FOUR: Do any of you have this candle by Anthropologie? If not, do yourself a favor and buy one! Sarah introduced me to it and I love it! It seems like a good mix of a high end and (sort of) affordable candle. I just can’t spend $100 on a candle yet. But this one? Worth the $28 for sure. Would also make a great Mother’s Day gift.
FIVE: I’m mentally ready for summer, but my wardrobe and hair are not. I’m considering going a little more blonde, and I’m craving a gauzy, peasant blouse to add to my closet. Aren’t this blouse and that hair below perfect? It looks relaxed and put together. Now I just need to make a hair appointment and find a similar blouse (and get a tan, do my nails, etc. ;))!! Hey, it’s just inspiration!
Thank you all for reading! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Cheers to May!
