Decided to get back on the Five on Friday train! I have missed these posts this summer, and figured that if pumpkin spice lattes are back, Five on Friday should be too. 🙂 Can’t wait for the link-up to begin again! I enjoy writing about random things like this, so here we go!
ONE: I got my hair cut last week. FINALLY. I really only get my hair cut 2-3 times a year, which is shameful. I am not sure why I wait so long between salon visits, but I’m so happy I went! Well, actually I do know why…my hair is almost always in a bun or ponytail, so I hardly notice the raggedy split ends. Here is an after shot: (I look mad, but I’m not. I’m actually just terrible at taking selflies!)
TWO: Summer vegetables will be sorely missed in my kitchen once this season ends. Davis, Kenan, and I spent the night at my parents’ house with my mom this week. My dad and Todd were out of town, and our roof is being redone – which is the loudest home improvement project ever – so we stayed with my mom! Anyway, she had gone to the farmers market in their neighborhood (cool setup, huh?) and bought some okra, squash, and peaches, and she picked some tomatoes from her garden. I brought over some veggies I had, and we made a very girly, summery, vegetarian dinner. SO tasty. We lamented the loss of okra and yummy tomatoes when the season ends. Then we drank prosecco and watched Bachelor in Paradise. Girls night in!
THREE: For Todd’s 30th, Jeremy and Sarah gave him some copper mugs and all the ingredients for Moscow Mules. Such a thoughtful gift! Todd made us some over the weekend and they were a new favorite. I’ve only tasted them once, but this drink is right up my alley: ginger and lime and not too sweet!
FOUR: ALS Ice Bucket challenge. We all participated last week, even Davis, and it was hilarious. Here are some picture outtakes from our experience!
FIVE: We’re spending the long weekend at the beach! Our family is packing out my grandparents’ beach house (15 people, including 3 toddlers, and only 5 bedrooms)! But I know we’ll have a blast-we always do! My little family has been under the weather this week, so I’m ready for a salt air cure.
Have a great weekend, and Happy Labor Day!
