Toddler Fall Activities

October 16, 2014

Fall is such a great time to have themed activities with kids.  Between pumpkins, apples, leaves falling, harvest time, and Halloween, the ideas are almost endless.  And I’m sure as Davis gets older, the activities will become much more abundant!

I’ve been looking at Pinterest for some ideas of crafts and activities I can do with Davis.  I’ve also listed some ideas of things we’ve done at home, or he’s done with my parents. He will be 2 in a couple months, and getting to more of an age where he can be engaged in these types of things.

ONE: Pumpkin Patch and Apple Picking.  These ideas are not new ones, but I know we, along with many other families, love to do these things with their young kids! We’ve been to a pumpkin patch this year, and last year we went to Sky Top Orchard in the NC mountains for apple picking, and loved it!

TWO: Play dress up in their Halloween costumes. Why not get more use out of the costume than one night?!  I thought Davis might still be a little young to like costumes, but as soon as we bought his lion costume, he had a blast trying it on and playing in it!

THREE: Fall Festivals.  My parents have a Fall Frolic on the greenway near their house, so they took him a couple weekends ago.  Farm animals, rides on “cow trains”, playing outside – what more could a little boy ask?!  They all had a great time! (Not sure why these pictures are small).

FOUR: Fall Crafts.  My mom and I have both done some arts and crafts with Davis this Fall.  Painting pumpkin pictures, making art work with Fall stickers, and using Q-tips to paint leaves on a tree my mom printed out.  Simple things can go a long way with toddlers!

FIVE: Leaf Games.  I saw an idea on Pinterest about raking leaves inside.  My mom bought some fake leaves for him to play with, so he spent a little time raking leaves in the hallway. 🙂 Here are some other ideas I’ve seen on Pinterest:
