The weather this week has been gorgeous in NC, and I’m thankful for Fall-ish temperatures, and some quality time with my little family. Last weekend involved time with extended family and a high school best friend, which was good for the soul! This coming weekend is going to be jam-packed, but it also involves time with a lot of our family, and we’re celebrating one of my best friend’s 30th birthdays, so I’m excited!
I’m linking up with April, Christina, Darci, and Natasha again this week. Thank you for hosting, ladies! I love Five on Friday posts!
ONE: Pumpkin Maple Walnut Coconut Granola. I tried this recipe from Minimalist Baker with a few tweaks. I added some coconut, used walnuts instead of pecans, and used sunflower seeds instead of pepitas. I am really enjoying it, but I think it could have a bit more pumpkin spice flavor. Maybe add a bit more of the pumpkin, and a pinch more of the pumpkin spice? Also I think it tastes better on the second or third day. It has made the perfect afternoon snack this week!
TWO: I blogged late last night about a Fall Fashion idea: a long cardigan with a loose t-shirt, jeans, and a belt. Here is one of my outfits I put together from my existing closet. The only new item are those leopard flats, which I ADORE! It turns out that my mom bought similar flats for herself, and a pair for me. She wore hers to a family lunch we had last weekend. It’s no surprise we matched! 🙂
THREE: My cousin, Sarah, blogged about some Christmas gift ideas this week. She gave ideas of homemade, or less expensive gift ideas for your family and friends. Her tips are timely, and I plan to use some of her ideas whenever I begin Christmas shopping! Some of her ideas include a themed gift, like a book and a coffee gift card, a magazine subscription, a homemade sugar body scrub, or a platter of homemade treats. Love this inspiration.
FOUR: Real talk here for a second. I am not a fan of Halloween candy. Eek!! I know, that’s so boring of me. Halloween isn’t my favorite holiday in general because I am a TOTAL wimp with scary things, but I also don’t love the onslaught of sugar. So, how terrible would it be if we gave something out to trick-or-treaters like glow sticks or stickers? Completely lame? I don’t know, I might just do it. Here is a blog post with plenty of non-candy ideas.
FIVE: Carrie Underwood’s new song “Something in the Water” just gets to me. I turn the volume up every time it comes on the radio. I told Todd it makes me want to cry. (Powerful worship songs, and especially hymns, always have that effect). If you haven’t heard it yet, check it out!
TGIF! Have a wonderful weekend, ladies!

glow sticks are a super good idea!!! Love it! Also, I’m new to your blog (love it!) and I just have to say that you look a bit like Kate Middleton in your photo! Have you heard that before? So pretty!
Happy Friday! 🙂

Do you live in Charlotte? I do – I live in Ballantyne! It’s always great to connect with local bloggers. That is a great recipe for granola; I love granola but purchasing it in a store is always a miss because of the sugar content. Also, I love the outfit – the leopard print shoes are the perfect POP since the rest of the outfit is a bit more subtle. Have a great weekend girl!

Hi! I found you through Pinterest on a fashion post and realized we have the same leopard flats! I just bought them and I’m in love. Who knew Dr.Scholls was so fashionable 🙂 I’m also happy to find out you’re in Charlotte, as am I! Seems we have similar style and interests and I have a little tyke too, so I’ll keep reading! Cheers –
