Five on Friday: Thanksgiving Edition

November 21, 2014

As always, hooray for Friday!  But also…it is less than a week away from Thanksgiving, just over a week away from Davis’ second birthday party, and only several weeks until Christmas.  Holy cow!  I went to the grocery store yesterday, middle of the morning, and it was jam packed.  Stress.me.out.  I told Todd I’m planning to go back and do my Thanksgiving shopping at 6 am Monday morning, in hopes of beating the crowds.  I don’t do well with last minute, hectic grocery shopping trips.  (I probably need to lighten up.  May need some happy hour wine this afternoon. ;))

In light of my crazy holiday, celebration-filled brain right now, my five will be all about Thanksgiving!  What to wear, trusted recipes, etc.  Thank you for reading!

I am linking up with April, Darci, Christina, and Natasha today.  Thank you for hosting, girls!

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

ONE: First things first.  Outfit ideas!  I like to look nice on Thanksgiving, but not be too fancy.  Here are some ideas that I may use as inspiration for our family Thanksgiving parties.

TWO: The best salad.  This wild rice, kale, pomegranate, walnut, feta salad from Pinch of Yum is amazing.  If you need a side dish to bring, I highly suggest this one!  I made it last year and it was a hit.

THREE: Fresh cranberry sauce.  I have made this recipe several times, and will make it again this year.  Easy, fresh, and pairs really well with your turkey dinner.

FOUR: Toddler Thanksgiving activities.  I may try to do something crafty with Davis for turkey day.  Both of these turkey crafts look like something he’d enjoy!

FIVE: Being grateful.  My life is abundantly full of blessings, and I am thankful for a holiday like this one to reflect on all of those things.  Remembering to praise God for His love, His place in my heart, my family and friends, and how He has worked miracles already in my family should be my top priority.

Happy early Thanksgiving!  Have a wonderful weekend!

I love the look of a plaid shirt and vest over it. I’m thinking about getting something like that myself for the fall/winter season. That salad looks amazing, there’s something about cranberries in salad that just make it that much better. Happy Friday! 🙂
