Anybody remember the Amy Grant Christmas song, “Emmanuel”?? It’s old school, but we’ll call it a classic. One of those that I turn the volume way up on and sing too loudly, even though my voice is rough – ha!
It has always been one of my favorites to hear during the Christmas season. This time of year we are reminded so often of all of the names of Jesus, and over the weekend I thought about them many times. Being reminded of God’s greatest gift to us – His Son – and how much Jesus is to us, is incredible.
He is Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Savior, Wonderful, Counselor, Prince of Peace. Whatever you or I may be going through in our lives, we have Jesus to help us through it. He is a healer, overcomer, comforter, and He is full of grace. I’m especially thankful for His grace, and my husband’s forgiving spirit, when I become consumed with the inevitable holiday to-do list that can take over my OCD personality. And break down and cry on Dec 22nd because I have too much to do. Ahem.
Moving on. 😉 I found this print on Nest of Posies (she is offering it as a free printable!), and I had to share.
We have this verse up in our house each year, but it has never spoken to me as strongly as this year. This year at Christmas, I am feeling thankful for the excuse to be with family and celebrate all week. I’m full of hope for next year, and for how God is working in my life. I’m praying for revival in our city, and that He will use our worship experiences this Christmas Eve to work miracles in peoples’ hearts.
Elevation has church services in multiple locations tomorrow, on Christmas Eve, if you’d like to join!
Few more verses to reference: Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31; Jeremiah 23:6
Merry Christmas!
