Happy Friday from freezing cold Charlotte! I’m linking up with April, Darci, Christina, Natasha for Five on Friday; Karli for Oh Hey Friday!; and Erika, Narci, and Andrea for Friday Favorites.
ONE: As I mentioned last Friday, Todd and I went on an early Valentine’s date. We went to The Summit Room, and it was delicious. Plus they easily worked with my need to eat gluten free, which is always appreciated! We ordered cocktails (Todd: Chocolate Manhattan, Lindsay: Cucumber Collins) and small plates (Mussels; Sriracha Deviled Eggs; Fried Green Tomatoes; Scallops) and everything was fantastic. I only took one picture of the food, and it’s not great, but I recommend ignoring the photo skills and trying this restaurant.
TWO: We’re in the process of tweaking some things around our home, such as new lamps and re-upholstering chairs. One project I’m working on is finally buying new place mats. We just use the ones we got from our wedding registry (almost 9 years ago!). I found some placemats from Pier 1, the napkins from World Market, and these fun patterned cocktail napkins from Anthropologie for the bar.
THREE: Charlotte had a snowstorm, err, ice storm this week. If you live in the South, you know that we just shut down when any kind of cold precipitation sticks to the ground. But actually, the roads were bad. Todd had to go into work for most of the day, but then worked from home. We, especially Davis and Kenan, had a fun time in our icy backyard.
FOUR: I decided to try some new skin care items: Thayer rose petal witch hazel and Bio Oil. I’ll let you know if I fall in love and see them as a must-try!
FIVE: Our pastor’s wife, Holly, preached at church this past weekend as a part of the Moodswingers series. She has also written some blog posts about how to be an uncomplicated person (woman), and they’re great! One of the passages she preached on was Phillipians 4:5-7:
Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. The word gentleness in particular struck my heart. It is something I really need to strive for as a mom, wife, and woman.
Have a great weekend, all!
Happy Friday sweet friend – have a magical weekend x

Thank you, Chelsea! I need to make sure and document the changes. Have a great weekend!
I love the Summit Room also, isn’t it so tasty? Y’all have a wonderful weekend and stay warm 🙂
Yes, we loved it, April! And the staff was so friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely go back. I hope you all stay warm, too – it’s got to warm up soon in Charlotte, right?!
Love updating the house, can’t wait to see yours! I have a Davis, too!
House updates are addicting, aren’t they? You do one thing, then want to keep improving. Aww, I love hearing about other boys named Davis. 🙂 Thank you for stopping by, and have a great weekend!
so in love with the new table accessories- all of it!!
Thank you, Nelle! I can’t wait to get my table all set up for Spring! Have a good weekend.
Love the new napkins. So cute! I also really like the Rose Petal Witch Hazel, but have stopped using it since I got pregnant. My skin went back to looking like a teenager’s and I had to use something more powerful. Interested to see if you like it though! Have a great weekend!
Good to know that you liked the witch hazel! Gosh, pregnancy hormones can be SO rough on skin! I still have dark spots/melasma from when I was pregnant with my son. It’s all worth it, though. 😉 Have a good weekend!
That sounds like a great series at your church. I am all about trying to be more uncomplicated. Our pastor is currently calling our series “Peanut Butter and Jealousy” and it’s all about sticky relationships and how to overcome them. Also I cannot wait to read about your feelings on Bio Oil. I have seen a that around a lot and have been curious!
I am loving the placemats and napkins! Xo, Stephanie
