First things first…today is someone’s birthday! Happy happy birthday Dad! (More on my instagram + last year’s post for his 60th)
I’m back! (For now at least)! I have seriously neglected my blog lately. I’m going to blame moving and the fact that I am in need of a new Mac. That is a sad thing, you know? Having to buy a new computer?? Anyways….on to the most random 5 (oops, 6!) ever. Joining 5 on Friday, Oh Hey Friday, and Friday Favorites! I’m linking up with April, Karli, Erika, Andrea, and Narci.
ONE: We are leaving soon for a tropical vacay and I am pumped! I love my life, but I am honestly looking forward to a break from reality. Todd even left me a cute card by the coffee maker this morning to celebrate that soon we’ll be in island paradise!
TWO: I wrote another blog post for FTD’s blog Fresh! We all have extra mason jars sitting around, or in the back of a storage closet, right? Well, FTD has a line of flower arrangements that come in Jardin jars that are beautiful! After I received the flower arrangements, I came up with some creative ways to use the jars again. I’d love for you to check it out!
THREE: Grapefruit drinks. (I told you this was random). I’m obsessed with grapefruit. I even use grapefruit body wash. I have 3 ideas for how to use them in drinks, if you’re a grapefruit lover like myself:
1. Grapefruit La Croix + 1/2 Fresh-Sqeezed Grapefruit. Refreshing, non-alcoholic, no sugar. Yum yum yum!
2. The Paloma. This is like an even healthier and lighter skinny margarita. Grapefruit juice instead of all the lime and sweet and sour mix. I like cocktails to be tart, tangy, and light. I also tend to prefer tequila over other liquor. I don’t have a picture, but try this Paloma! It’s basically what I made, plus her pictures are gorgeous!
3. Heavy duty detox water. Warning: this is not for the faint of heart. It has water, fresh grapefruit juice, raw apple cider vinegar, mint, turmeric, and cayenne pepper. I used The Skinny Confidential’s recipe (but I scaled it down a bit). I haven’t been feeling 100% this week – headaches, grouchy, I pulled a muscle (which killed!), etc. I was feeling old and kind of like I was falling apart. Typically if Todd or I is feeling icky, we drink a couple tablespoons of (raw, unfiltered, organic) apple cider vinegar. This was that, to an extreme!
FOUR: Speaking of detox and such, do any of you dry brush? I am always up for trying a new (proven to be benificial) health tool. I’ve read about dry brushing for so long now, but I finally bought one and began earlier this week. I felt the physical effects of dry brushing immediately (my advice is to only do it a few times the first week). The benefits of regular dry brushing include: lymphatic support; increased blood flow and energy; reduced cellulite; clear, exfoliated skin. Wellness Mama wrote a great post about it, with more information about the benefits, and which brush to buy.
Mine is from Target.
FIVE: The project (and repairs) list for our new house is long. Don’t get me wrong, we love this house! But we bought it knowing we’d like to make some improvements and redecorate a little. One of the first items on the list is to buy a huge dining table. Our home has an open concept first floor, and only one eating space – a large dining room. We need a table to fill the space with seating for 8-10. This is the one we are planning to purchase soon! Cannot wait!
SIX: I don’t think I’ve ever been as bad at getting the laundry done. These last couple of weeks I have re-washed clothes because they have been sitting in the washing machine so many times. And I’m going to do it again with those whites sitting in the washer today! Oh well, TGIF.
Happy Friday! Thank you to those who haven’t given up on me yet! 😉
