Friday Favorites

August 7, 2015

Good morning from the beach!  We’ve had too many thunderstorms to count, unfortunately, but we’re still having a great time.  It is supposed to storm again today, but that will just give me more time to read your blogs!

I’m linking up with April; Karli; Erika, Narci, and Andrea today.  Happy weekend!

ONE:  I need your help!  I really need to put some effort into re-vamping my blog, and the first item on the list is hiring someone to make it prettier.  I would rather not spend a fortune, but I would like it to be unique, clean, and pretty.  And not look like it does now – like I just uploaded a theme directly from WordPress.  Any blog designer recommendations?!  I’m all ears!  Pretty Darn Cute Designs looks like a good option, as well as 17th Avenue Designs on etsy.

I could also SERIOUSLY use a blog tutorial, or a blogging conference that is focused on the basics.  I can usually figure out how to do things, but I know I can make this more of a professional space, and I have plenty to learn.  If you have any recommendations, I’ll take them!  Thank you, girls!

TWO: Chasing Paper Removable Wallpaper.  I saw this on Natalie‘s instagram earlier this week, and she also blogged about it.  I’ve never loved the idea of wallpaper, only because it is labor intensive.  But I think it adds depth to a room, and would love to use some in our powder bath, or when we re-do Davis’ room soon (switching out the crib for a bed).  And this wallpaper is removable!  I could handle that. Here are a few that I like: (This is not sponsored)!

THREE: I finally ordered my son a back pack!  Schue Love posted about it, then I found it online later and loved it.  I ordered it from Nordstrom (through Ebates with 6% back – any little bit helps!) and I cannot wait to get home and see it.  I am excited about and dreading preschool all at the same time, but I know it will be beneficial for Davis!

For every State bag purchased, the company delivers a back pack, packed full of school essentials, to a child in need.

FOUR: When our family gets together, we tend to put a heavy focus on cooking.  This week so far, our meals on vacation have been excellent.  We have only gotten dinner out once.

Thank you all for reading!

Thank you, Jennifer! I need to record the shrimp scampi recipe next time. They were all made without using recipes, but I will try to replicate some of them and write down the steps.

I’m in the process of doing the exact same thing with my blog! I’m ready for different look something that is simple, feminine, and clean! I’ve looked at 17th Avenue Designs and Designer Blogs as well. Because like you I don’t want to spend a fortune but want some thing new! What I wanted to tell you is that both of those websites will install your design and design elements for you so you don’t have do a thing! I’m hopeless at all of that so I wanted to find someone who could install it for me and again they both offer the service for a little extra!

I really like the one you’ve shown as example though. Very nice!

Stopping by from the link up! Hope you have a great Friday!

Kathleen, thank you for stopping by and for offering your advice! The tip about hiring them to install is crucial…I think it could be a bad idea to try and install them myself. Thank you! And good luck to you as you work on improving your blog as well! Hopefully I’ll have some fun changes around here soon.

Found you on Oh Hey Friday link up. I see you live in Charlotte, so do I. Always nice to meet a local blogger. And you attend Elevation Church. We attended there for awhile. Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.

Hi Michelle! Thank you for taking the time to comment! Small world. 🙂 I am actually not taking any baking orders at the moment. I may start again, but we have just moved, and I haven’t made time to begin my business at our hew house. If I do decide to start taking orders, I will post it on my blog and other social media as well. Thank you again! And I’m sorry I can’t be of help!

If this is a duplicate message, my apology. It doesn’t want me to leave a message this morning. I found your blog on September Farm and wanted to introduce myself. I live in Charlotte also and it is always nice to see another local blogger. I’m interested in knowing a little more about your bakery. Could you email me at mmstreeter1@gmail.com and let me know either where your located so I can visit or how to talk about placing an order. Thanks and it is nice to meet you.

Stopping by from the Oh Hey Friday link up, and excited to follow along! I would also love a blogging conference or tutorial on the basics, as I feel like I’ve done about all I know how to do on my blog, but know that it could be better – if you get any good recommendations, would love to hear them:) That speckle wallpaper is so fun. Eye catching but elegant at the same time, and so easy to decorate around. Love. Happy Friday!

Thank you!! Yes it is in now, but I can’t see myself committing to real wallpaper – this removable kind seems ideal to me! Have a great week!

I love that backpack! I would wear one myself!

As for blogging, as the years have gone by I’ve tried to turn my blog into something more professional etc., and I started by looking at the blogs I admire to see what they do. How did they advertise? What kind of routine did hey follow? And when I had a question I just emailed them about it.

    Happy Friday!

Love your blog, from my point of view I think your blog looks lovely as it is, but I know what it’s like to want something that’s uniquely you. I think Natasha of Hello Happiness blog recommends a good designer?! I would look through blogs you like the look of & look out for the designer who generally put their copyright on it somewhere, usually at the bottom of the blog. Your food looks amazing! Would love the recipes. Stopping by from #fiveonfriday xo

Thank you, Lizzie! Thats sweet of you. 🙂 I will look at Natasha’s blog to see her recommendation. Thank you for the advice about looking for the copyright – that’s very helpful! I don’t have any recipes for the food we made, but I will try and replicate some and record the recipes!
