Friday Favorites: Summer to Fall Outfits

September 4, 2015

For this week’s edition of my Five on Friday/Friday Favorites, I decided to put together 5 (well 6, really) outfits from my closet.  Fall is almost here, and any time one season is transitioning to the next, finding appropriate outfits can be puzzling.  It is still in the 90s here, but I am dreaming of slightly cooler days!  That black and white outfit below particularly has my attention!

I am linking up with April; Karli; Erika, Narci, and Andrea today for all of the fun Friday blog parties!

THE GOOD LIFE BLOGfridayfavorites3_zpsea6fc451-1

Here’s the deal…I essentially went shopping in my own closet.  All of my clothes are affordable, and from all over the place.  I often shop at Asos, Marshall’s, LOFT, Nordstrom (sales), Gap, sometimes J Crew Factory, and Forever 21.  Though I do not know the exact sources of all of the items pictured, I did find alternative options for you!  And everything (besides maybe the jeans and the watch) are under $100.

ONE: This outfit still has a summer feel, but is warm enough to wear when the nights are cooler.  And the shoes and long sleeves make it early autumn appropriate.

Orange Shoulder Cut-Out Blouse (SO CUTE) | Joe’s White Skinny Jeans | House of Harlow Turquoise & Gold Necklace | Turquoise & Gold Earrings | Chinese Laundry Open Toe Fringe Bootie (mine are Steve Madden Paulina, but I cannot find them anywhere online)

TWO: So…I couldn’t find this lilac blouse anywhere (it is originally from the junior’s section in Nordstrom and could possible still be found in store).  But, I thought this outfit was a good alternative to a summer dress if you have an occasion to attend.  This can be worn when it is hot out, but is acceptable for Fall. I’m helping host a baby shower in a couple of weeks, and I am tentatively planning to wear this outfit.

Gray Blouse (also a gorgeous teal one!) | Lace Skirt | Kendra Scott Elisa Necklace (mine is gold with a gray stone | Dolce Vita Heel

THREE: F L A R E jeans!  I am so glad I held onto these jeans.  I bought these Joe’s flare jeans from Off 5th 4 or 5 years ago and have only worn them a couple of times.  Now that flare and wide leg jeans are back in style, I will absolutely wear them this year!  I went with a bit of a boho look for this look by pairing the jeans with the extra long cardigan.  The green shirt under it is basically a dressy t-shirt that I found at Marshall’s.  I also think this look would be perfect with a white t-shirt instead of the green, tucked in at the front, and a few long, dainty necklaces.

Joe’s Flare Jeans | Long Cardigan | Green V-Neck Shirt | Wooden Bead Bracelet with Tassel

FOUR: This may be my favorite and I believe white and black plaid is perfection.  This outfit will absolutely be a wardrobe staple in the next few months!

white and black plaid shirt; black jeans; black ankle boots

Black and White Plaid Blouse | Asos Black Ripped Skinny Jeans | Sole Society Black Ankle Boots | Gray and Gold Stud Earrings (Forever 21 version – less than $5)

FIVE: Can you ever go wrong with a classic?  This softened dress shirt from LOFT is comfortable, and can easily go from a super casual day look to an outfit for a meeting or a dinner.

LOFT Tunic Softened Shirt | Gap Skinny Jeans (similar to mine) | Nude Stilettos | Blue Clutch

Boyfriend Jeans (linked to a newer version – mine are a few years old) | Nike Internationalist in Gray/Platinum | Michael Kors Watch

Thank you for stopping by!  This was much different than my typical Friday posts, but I do hope you enjoyed it.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you, Mary! I paired jeans with most of these tops. Maybe slacks or dress pants in the same color?

I love the variety of all of these looks. Great styling! My fave is the boho look. I have two pairs of wide flare jeans I held onto that I also am glad I kept. I continued to rock them even when they weren’t “in style”.

Love your outfits. Question, for outfit #1, where did you purchase the nude color purse?

Hi Stephanie. Do you mean the second outfit? That clutch is actually from a jewelry and apparel show a few years ago. I’m sorry that isn’t very helpful! For a similar look, you should check Francesca’s! They often have clutches that look close to that.

I’m sorry it doesn’t look similar! That is the closest I was able to find. Mine was actually from Francesca’s last year.

Hi! I am obsessed with outfit number 4 and I’m trying to find that exact black and white plaid. What brand is the one in the picture? I know the link is to a similar b&w plaid but it is sold out.

Hi Mackenzie! I’m sorry I don’t have the best news…it is Max-Jeans brand. I searched their website and googled it, but the only one I can find is this one being sold on Poshmark: https://poshmark.com/listing/MAX-JEANS-Top-Large-NWT-5659e34ffbf6f965cf00149c
