Our Topsail Island vacation was tops this year! This island off the coast of NC is our second home and favorite summer vacation spot. I grew up going there with my extended family, and I’m still obsessed. The beaches are beautiful, and it is the best setting to relax. This year we went for a little over a week with my parents and my brother, Patrick. It was just about perfect, and we were all very sad to leave!
Fair warning: this post literally has 1 million pictures from our trip.
We were a little more adventurous this year….
We took Davis fishing for the first time on the Intracoastal Waterway! He was the only one to catch something – his first fish! He has already told people it was much larger than it really was. 🙂 Typical fisherman storyteller. And let me brag on my husband for a second: he took Davis’ tiny fish to a taxidermist to have it mounted, complete with a name plate that will include the date. Major daddy points!
We played putt putt…another first for Davis! It was a really fun way to spend an evening.
Todd rented a boat and we drove down the Intracoastal. We planned to park the boat at the end of the island and go swimming, but things did not go exactly as planned. The wind was too strong and we couldn’t get the anchor to hold. At one point we got too close to a tiny beach and my dad and I jumped out to push the boat out of the sand! (Rookies!) Quite an adventure, but besides the stress Todd had as captain, we loved it…And now we have dreams of owning one some day.
Most days were spent on the beach. Take me back!!
We only went out to eat at restaurants twice. I will post more about our vacation food in another post.
Thanks for bearing with me through the photo overload! Since this blog is also my memory book, I couldn’t resist!
