Today I am linking up with April, Christina, Natasha; Karli; Erika, Andrea, Narci; and Tif for all of the Friday link-ups
Sharing 5 of my favorites, and also some things that are on my mind this week:
ONE: In light of the tragedies of this week, I was reminded of Galations 6:2. Racism and prejudice may not necessarily affect me directly, but I feel that it would be wrong to remain silent about this issue. I cannot begin to imagine how it must feel to be a part of the black community, and especially to be a black man or to be raising black sons. I know that I can’t fix this. But I do know that I can pray. And I can teach my son(s) about equality and love. I can be an example and show them that hatred has no place in our hearts. I can teach them about justice and equal rights. I can teach them about how Jesus loved people, and to model our lives after Him. I can learn from this, not just as a parent, but also as a human being.
I am going to continue on a lighter note, but this remains heavy on my heart.
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” -Galatians 6:2
TWO: One perk of the holiday weekend was that Todd was off work on Monday and Tuesday. We were able to go out for a brunch + stroller shopping date! It was nice to have a relaxing morning with just my husband. We tried Little Spoon Eatery for the first time. The food was great, but I think I’d like to try it on a busier day to really get the feel for it. I had breakfast tacos on homemade corn tortillas. They were filled with egg whites, kale, and quinoa – I loved this combination. Then we went to Buy Buy Baby, and even though we’ve done this before, we were still overwhelmed! We will be able to use most things over this go round, but we do need a few updated items.
THREE: On Sunday I posted a picture on instagram wearing a tunic (dress, really) from Forever 21 last year. I had several comments and questions about it, so I decided to search for some similar options for anyone interested! I bought mine last year and wore it as a cover up. With a baby bump, it fits much better as a tunic blouse. It was perfect to wear to church in 95-degree heat over July 4th weekend!
FOUR: How fun is this Happy Birthday wooden cake topper? I spotted it at Marshall’s – you know how they always entice you to buy more with all of the fun, must-have items in the checkout line! Anyway, I had to have it, and I know that it will come in handy for upcoming birthday celebrations!
I have no idea why this one ended up at Marshall’s, but I found the exact one on etsy!
FIVE: Todd’s boss was in town working with him this week, so we invited him over for dinner. I of course made way too much food! But, that’s not the point. What I am trying to tell you about is that I have a new favorite kitchen tool! These tart pans are amazing for baking. I made mini blueberry crisps in them for our dessert, and they were wonderful. The tart pans were a breeze to work with, and I am planning to make some mini quiches in them this weekend. They would work well for any individual pie, fruit crisp or crumble, a chocolate tart, etc etc. They’re one of those things that make it look like you’ve been slaving away in the kitchen, when really you simply used a great tool!
I am planning to post this recipe soon!
In case you missed it, I put together a large succulent centerpiece for our dining room table, and yesterday I gave the how-to….how to plant succulents, how to water them, where to buy them, and so on. See yesterday’s post for the tutorial and all of the details!
Thank you for stopping by…have a wonderful weekend!
