Weekend in Savannah

Our weekend was spent in the ultra-Southern, charming city of Savannah, GA for Todd’s cousin’s wedding. The trip was relatively quick, but we enjoyed our time together. While there we discovered that our son is a huge fan of staying in hotels. He thought his two nights in a hotel in Savannah were quite amazing!  Overall he was a trooper, and we were really proud of him.  Davis sat through a wedding for the first time, wore a suit for the first time, stayed up way past his bed time, and did great with the hot weather.

Because the wedding was not until Saturday evening, we spent the morning exploring Savannah.  We walked around the river area and some of downtown with Todd’s family. We rode the free ferry on the river, then explored some of the beautiful squares and historic sites. By 10 am we were all sweaty, so we went on a search for iced coffee.  I had read rave reviews about The Coffee Fox, so Todd and I stopped in for iced coffee, then met up with his family again after.

For lunch, we wanted something casual.  Right before our trip I researched restaurants in Savannah, and Zunzi’s was one that popped up on every list. Zunzi’s is a casual, walk-up-and-order South African restaurant. They are known for their sandwiches, and they will even make them gluten free! I had the Conquistador on GF bread, Todd had a chicken pita, and Davis had a “Something Like Pizza.” All of the workers were extra friendly, and even offered Davis a free popsicle.

The wedding was held in an historic church downtown.  Following the ceremony we were able to get a few photos of our family. This was Davis’ first time wearing a suit, and oh my goodness, I had all of the heart eyes for our cutie!

We had a great time with my in-laws, and enjoyed our time in Savannah!

I hope you all had nice weekends! It’s hard to believe that summer is coming to an end. I am ready for the weather to cool off, but I will miss this season with my family.
