Valentine’s Day is coming up in a couple of days, and I am working on some ideas to make our morning at home extra special. My mom always put out a card and some treats for Valentine’s morning, and I want to continue the tradition with my boys. For this year, I am going to make these pink smoothies for their breakfast! Because I know that Davis will have plenty of store-bought treats at his class party, I wanted to balance it out with a healthy AND fun breakfast for Valentine’s Day! These pink smoothies fit the holiday of love well and still give them a balanced breakfast.
These are definitely kid-friendly! My boys taste-tested these for snack today and gave them their seal of approval.
Ridge was doing his best to steal the smoothies, and especially the straw, as I was taking pictures. 🙂
The toppings for the smoothie are up to you, and you could have a lot of fun with them! Everything from shredded coconut to mini chocolate chips to sliced strawberries would work. I used frozen raspberries and this Almond Butter Granola that I have been addicted to lately. The original recipe is by Two Peas and Their Pod, and the only change I’ve made is to use sliced almonds instead of chopped-up whole almonds. It is really easy to make, and so yummy. I find myself eating it straight out of the container throughout the day.
Also, feel free to add in any other healthy supplements to the smoothie! Things such as a probiotic or bee pollen would be great additions. The collagen peptides are a great addition to any smoothie as well.
The heart straws and napkins are both from Hobby Lobby.

- Place all of the ingredients in a high-powered blender. Blend until completely smooth.
- Serve with Almond Butter Granola (recipe by Two Peas and Their Pod) and sliced strawberries or frozen raspberries.
- *If you want your smoothie to be a bit sweeter, make it with 1 cup of strawberries and leave the raspberries out. I love raspberries in smoothies, but they are slightly more tart than strawberries.
