October just absolutely flew by, so I’m posting my October favorites in November. The boys and I all got sick last month, we celebrated Ridge’s birthday and Halloween, Todd traveled, there were events at Davis’ school, and Todd and I went to Mexico to celebrate a wedding! We also hosted a retirement party for Todd’s dad, a hurricane came, I led a gluten free/dairy free class, we had a parent-teacher conference for Davis, and there were two video shoots at our house – the first one wasn’t completed because the hurricane knocked out our power. It feels a bit like a blur. As the weeks went by I wrote down some of my favorite things, and I wanted to share them with you all! When I posted my September favorites, I received so much great feedback from you all. I think these posts are just like girl talk, like when you get together with your girlfriends and compare notes about recent things you’ve been loving! Here is my random list of my recent favorites.
Leopard Sneakers.
You all know that leopard is EVERYWHERE right now. That and camo. I consider both neutrals, so I was determined to find some fun sneakers with a touch of leopard. I’m obsessed with these. I also saw that Gap has an even more affordable pair that looks very similar! Sam Edelman also has a great option. I’m not a Golden Goose gal. I think they’re great, but I just can’t bring myself to spend that much on a pair of shoes. So these were a good compromise for much, much less!
I’m wearing the Old Navy jeans mentioned below, and my sweater is last year BP brand from Nordstrom, but this one and this one look similar.
Comfy, CHEAP Joggers.
Amazon to the rescue! I wanted some black joggers that I could wear around the house, to run errands, and to school pick-up, and this $15 pair was perfect! Seriously y’all, go buy these. Less than $15! They’re really cute with the leopard sneakers, too.
Oil Diffuser.
Now that cold season has started back, I wanted to use essential oils more in our house. I have one diffuser, but wanted to have one in each of the boys’ rooms. Ridge was not sleeping well for a while, so this has really came in handy to help with that as well. Amazon has a very inexpensive diffuser that I just started using. Davis loves the lights on it, too. Speaking of oils, I get them through my cousin, and always ask her way too many questions. 🙂 To help with the boys sleep I’ve been using Peace and Calming and Lavender. We’ve also been using Thieves to help keep the germs away, and I took Oregano when I was sick. Purification is another favorite. Our trash can was smelly recently, so before I put a new bag down in it, I placed a couple drops of purification and it helped. I use it extra dirty laundry, like if the boys have been in the dirt, and I place a drop on every mosquito bite I get and it takes the sting away.
Wedding Guest Dress.
I asked a while ago on my instagram story about where to find a great dress to wear to a wedding in Mexico. You all sent me lots of good ideas! I ordered a few from Lulu’s, bought an option from Anthropologie, and a few options from Nordstrom. I asked Todd to decide, and his favorite was this green one. It was a fall color, but the maxi style worked well for Mexico. It would also be beautiful for a holiday party, and the back is even prettier than the front!
Gap Workout Shirt.
My friend April told me about these tie-back tanks. This was my first time buying athletic apparel from Gap, but I really love this top. I get so sweaty during Burn workouts, and this is truly breathable. It’s my favorite workout top. I’m thinking I should order a couple more.
New Sauté Pan.
I used my ScanPan sauté pan every day, but I needed to add to my collection. I ordered this one, and so far, so good! It has great reviews, so I trusted those and went with it. I would love another set of the ScanPan brand, but they are pricier, so for now I went with the Amazon purchase. They are commercial-grade, though! And oven-safe. It works really well.
Madewell Jeans.
I am very late to the Madewell bandwagon, but I absolutely understand the hype now. These high-waisted jeans suck you in like no other. Plus, you have to go a size down which always helps your self-esteem! If you join the mailing list, you’re guaranteed to hear about sales. I got these on sale, plus if you bring in a pair of used jeans (they don’t have to be Madewell), you can receive $20 off! These jeans will be my basic, go-to pair this year. They will work with riding boots or ankle boots.
Old Navy Jeans.
If you’re looking for a trendier pair of jeans, and don’t want to spend much, I’m loving these Old Navy jeans. Another find that my friend April told me about. I keep telling her she should start a blog. I wore this dark pair in this video shoot recently. Speaking of, that was such a cool experience to get to make Christmas cookies on camera with Davis for Proverbs 31.
Trader Joe’s Finds.
One of these is old, one is new. First, if you haven’t tried the autumn salsa with their pumpkin tortilla chips yet, you are seriously missing out. Hopefully they will keep it in stock through November! A couple weeks ago I was super stressed out (hosting multiple events at our house, and our well, aka water source, broke) and I ate an entire bag + jar in two days! Shameful, but so delicous. Second is their new lemon and ginger seltzer water. In my opinion it is much better than any of the La Croix flavors. I still like La Croix, and yes I know about the lawsuit. But the seltzer is seriously so good.
Burgundy Nails.
I got my nails done last weekend before our family pictures, and wanted a deep burgundy color. They suggested OPI Malaga Wine, and it was perfect. Also, if you are in the Charlotte area, I had the best gel manicure ever from Bonjour Spa. My nails still looked freshly done over a week after.
Prayer Book.
I have been chatting with several people on instagram about reading through The Power of a Praying Parent. I am on chapter 3, and have already underlined so much. I believe in the power of prayer, and in this crazy and often scary world climate, I wanted to learn more about how to better pray for our boys. This book gives direction, Scripture references, and wisdom. I highly recommend it!
Ridge’s Birthday Party Details
I wanted to share a couple of things from Ridge’s birthday that you all asked about. First, his shirt is from one of my favorite etsy shops! His shirt last year was from there too, and I cannot recommend her enough! The shipping was extremely fast, she is so easy to work with, responds quickly and thoroughly, and she has really cute items. I am going to look for some Christmas items from there for the boys.
Also, his invitation was from etsy, and when I posted it on my instagram story, many of you asked for the source! Here it is!
(His full name is Christopher Ridge)
Red Bikini
I know it is past bikini-wearing-weather, but I finally wore this red bikini when we went to Mexico in October. It is so good, especially for the price! And if you’ve never shopped Asos, they have the easiest (free) returns. Here is the link to the top and the link to the bottoms.
Have a great Tuesday!

Those shoes are fantastic! I am definitely considering one of the lower priced options 😉

I love the top you are wearing with the black joggers. Will you share where you purchased it?
Lindsay says
Hi Lee, I wish I had an exact link to send you, but this shirt is actually old. It is from Old Navy from a few years ago. I’m so sorry!
