I didn’t realize how special it would be to walk into Magic Kingdom, until we were actually there! Walking in on Main Street, all wearing Mickey gear, and taking pictures in front of the castle, was so neat! Here is how we spent our time in Magic Kingdom!
We took the ferry from The Wilderness Lodge, then took pictures in front of the castle right away. The park got busier later in the day, so this ended up being a good idea. We started with a ride on the teacups, which of course the boys enjoyed! Then we had a fast pass for Peter Pan’s flight. Then we waited in line for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger, which was fun, but a long wait. We had a fast pass for Space Mountain next, which might be my favorite. Then we ate a quick service lunch at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Restaurant. We ordered ahead, and it was still a wait. The food was good, but it was so nuts there! We also did the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and loved it! It was one of Davis’ favorites for sure.
That night we had dinner at Chef Mickey’s! We were able to take the ferry to and from the Contemporary Resort. We originally had a different reservation, but we used the app that coordinates with the My Disney Experience website, and were able to get a dinner reservation there! Davis wasn’t feeling 100%, so he wasn’t very into meeting the characters, but Ridge loved it, and overall we had a great time! And they had a nice variety of food. I would definitely recommend it.
After dinner, we went to my parents’ room at the Wilderness Lodge to see the fireworks from their balcony. They had a perfect view! I’m glad we didn’t watch them in the park, because Ridge wasn’t a huge fan, even from that far away. But it was really beautiful to see! We had plans to stay up late and watch them most nights, but the sickness kind of changed our plans.
Another restaurant we changed was the Ohana breakfast. We ended up going on our last day, and loved that one as well! They also catered to our gluten free request. Ridge and I joined the parade with Lilo & Stitch, and he got to meet Pluto!
After Ohana (at the Polynesian), we took the Monorail back to Magic Kingdom. That day we rode Dumbo, Barnstormer, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Tea Cups again, and climbed on the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House. We only stayed until around lunch time, because Davis and I weren’t feeling well. I ended up sick in bed, so Todd took the boys to the pool and they met up with my parents and had dinner at the resort. I packed, because we had to leave the next morning at 4 am!
Besides being sick, Disney was honestly better than we thought it would be! We weren’t expecting Ridge to enjoy it as much as he did, since he is still little. Though it was chaotic and crowded, I would definitely go back. And we also loved staying at the Wilderness Lodge. We stayed in the Boulder Ridge Villas section. We really enjoyed all of the parks we visited, but I think Magic Kingdom has the most to offer, especially if you want to get on a ride in between your fast passes.
I will do a post with food and packing information next!
