May 2019 Memories

June 4, 2019

I wanted to share some of our life lately and our May 2019 memories! May is full for all parents everywhere. It felt crazy for us, mainly because we were moving, but all of the school things added up as well. We closed on our old house, spent lots of time with family and friends, celebrated Mother’s Day, watched Davis graduate from kindergarten (!!!), and hosted people at our pool. I also lightened my hair to hide all of the grays (probably from moving), we grilled most of our dinners, I spent some time with girlfriends, and I helped host a childrens’ health event. We also have a long list of house projects that need to be done, but I’m trying (not very successfully) to do those one at a time. Here’s a look at this last month in about a million pictures!

Mother’s Day Weekend

My mom and I went out for brunch that Saturday, then went furniture shopping! While we were gone, the guys got everything ready for us to have dinner together. My brother, Patrick, was in charge of cooking. He made sesame brown rice, grilled teriyaki salmon, snap peas, and grilled shrimp.

And yes, Patrick is single. He might kill me for posting that, but ya know, I’m ready for some nieces/nephews. 😉

The next day I served in the 4-year old room at church, then we went on a little road trip to visit Todd’s parents and sister, then to see my grandparents.

Davis’ Kindergarten Graduation

Davis finished school earlier than most schools here, and they had a graduation ceremony to celebrate being done with kindergarten! The caps and gowns immediately made me cry. And he sang a duet, so I was definitely holding back tears. I’m so proud of him! Both of my sisters-in-law came to the graduation, which was so kind of them, and Davis got to celebrate with some of his best buddies. I’m so thankful for wonderful teachers, and the fact that he had a great first year in school.

My friend April’s son goes to the same school, and they have such a sweet friendship.

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend felt like one giant party. It was HOT in Charlotte, so we were loving having a pool. We had friends over Friday, Todd’s parents came down on Saturday, then we had lots of friends who we haven’t seen in awhile over on Sunday! On Monday we got some things done around the house then went out for pizza.

Showers and jammies after the pool! These two are the cutest ever in their Primary pjs.

I’m going to share this lentil pasta salad recipe later this week!

Out and About

Earlier this month I went to a media event for a new brewery/beer spot in NoDa called Protagonist with my friend Josephine. She knew I needed to get out of the house and take a break from unpacking. 🙂

Then last week we celebrated Ashley’s 4th baby who will be here so soon! My cousin Sarah organized a sprinkle/girls’ night out, and it was so nice to chat with my girlfriends!

I co-hosted a children’s wellness event with Dr. Temple’s team. It was such an empowering night. I wrote a blog post all about it.

Clothes, Hair, Sunglasses

May was not the most glamorous month, because it involved a lot of days at home unpacking boxes. But I did get dressed in “real” clothes a few times! And, I finally had hair appointments. I went more blonde, and shorter. My hair had gotten down well below my bra strap in the back, and it was in need of a major trim. I used to be so attached to my hair being as long as possible, but now it just takes way too long to fix, so I’m fine with a slightly shorter length. I also bought some new sunglasses, because I broke my Ray Bans, and I have enjoyed them! They’re fun and comfortable.

May 2019 Memories; H&M tunic dress

I wore this dress a bunch! It’s from H&M and the exact one is sold out, but there are a few similar options that I might like even more (I’m a sucker for anything blue and white): this one | this one | this one. My bracelets are Anchor Beads and I wear them almost daily. My shoes are from Uniquities and I wear them all the time. And my earrings were worn about 20 times this past month.

I know that was such a random bunch of pictures, but I was slightly absent on social and my blog this month, so I wanted to play catch-up. The balance of blogging while kids are home all summer is going to be interesting. My current job description is more like: sunscreen-applier, child entertainer, pool catcher, and home organizer. 😉 April and May 2019 were hectic, but we feel truly blessed, and are thankful for some great memories!
