Well, I have some news! Some of you are probably thinking “it’s about dang time!” 😉 As you guys know, I have been on a journey to clean up our house and life bit by bit. We had the food part down, but I felt convicted to change our cleaning supplies, cosmetics, personal care items, soap, etc. I switched all of our cleaning products to Branch Basics at the start of 2020, and I have been so happy with that decision! When I started looking into clean beauty, I was honestly just really hesitant to join Beautycounter. I tried some other companies, but then I finally decided to give Beautycounter a real try. And now I am hooked, and so happy!
I dragged my feet forever on this. First, I wanted to tackle my melasma after Ridge was about a year old, and I was willing to use medical-grade skincare, or whatever was needed, to get rid of it. Then I was just hesitant to join something like this. I have a really hard time attaching myself to a brand, especially when it comes to work. I rarely ever take sponsored posts because I am so picky and they have to be something that I 100% love and would use in real life. With Beautycounter I was worried for those same reasons. Like I would be attached to a brand that I didn’t truly love. I think I am just really slow to grasp on to new things. Now that I have tried Beautycounter, I genuinely love it. And, I wish I had started using it sooner! You know that hand in the face emoji? That’s me.
Heads Up: Right now, you can get 20% off your first order!
An unfiltered look at my skin, wearing the makeup listed below. 🙂 It’s obviously not perfect, and I have plenty of smile lines and crow’s feet! But I am SO much more proud of my skin than I used to be. I am happy to go makeup-free most days.
My Reasons Why I Switched to Cleaner Beauty:
One-Stop Shop (They have basically everything).
I am not a big shopper. Casually perusing the mall is not usually my thing. Beautycounter is easy for me because I can get all of my skin, sunscreen, makeup, and even things for the boys and for Todd in one site. There’s no shopping at different stores and sites to look for the variety of products. These days, ease and efficiency matters a lot.
No More Trial and Error (and wasting money)
At the beginning of the year when I committed to switching over to cleaner beauty, I started shopping through a couple different companies. I liked them! But there was a lot of trial and error. With too many options to choose from, it felt overwhelming, and I was buying things to then have them not work well for me. I don’t have time to go back and forth to stores to make returns.
I also really like buying a line as a whole, versus buying products individually. The Countertime line is all-encompassing, which is great for someone who has wanted help and guidance with skincare.
I loved seeing an esthetician, and I will probably still seek professional help occasionally. But, the cost just really adds up.
Safer, Cleaner
You guys know how important clean living is to me! Our food and eating habits were the first aspect we tackled. Next up was cleaning supplies, and now personal care and beauty items. The more I learn about health, the more I realize how important it is to limit exposure to toxins. I am not a person who thinks you need to change everything at once, but this is one change that’s relatively easy to make. As you start to run out of product, you can switch to something cleaner. I’ve also been working to balance my hormones, and I know that using cleaner products on my skin can really help! Many of the ingredients in skincare in the U.S. are endocrine disruptors. I didn’t want to put that much work in to regulating my hormones, to then waste it by using harmful chemicals on my skin. I also trust Beautycounter for my kids. It is a brand I can feel good about because they ban a long list of ingredients that are deemed unsafe, but that are allowed to be used in many other products in the U.S.
Good for the Whole Family
We use the kids’ line for the boys. And we will use their sunscreen on them this summer. Todd also uses some of the Counterman products.
Well-Made, Well-Loved Products
So many people love these products, they’ve been touted as best-of-the-best in magazines, and bragged on by celebrities. Plenty of effort is put into creating stellar products and it shows!
Extra Money on the Side, hopefully
With everything else that I do, I am my “own boss.” Writing a blog, co-hosting a podcast, and working on instagram is great, and I enjoy it all. But those things are all completely self-made, besides working with Ashley on the podcast. Sometimes it can be draining to figure it all out by yourself. Also, those things are not really very lucrative, unless you take on a lot of sponsorships or do a ton of affiliate links, which I do not do. I would love a way to support my business as a whole. I did become a consultant, but I am not planning to make Beautycounter my sole focus! But as I share the products that are working for me, my hope is that some of you will try them and enjoy using them, too!
My Favorite Products So Far
Countertime Line – I use the whole thing. And it’s on sale right now!
Overnight Resurfacing Peel – This is my favorite product so far. I use it at night.
Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation – This will be my go-to all during the warm weather and when I want to look somewhat put together without wearing a full face of makeup. My shade is Sand.
Lip Gloss – The color Buff is my favorite!
Blush – I have the color Nectar.
Eyebrow Gel – This has helped tame my non-waxed eyebrows lately, haha! I’m color medium. But I’m planning to try the eyebrow pencil next, and maybe grab the clear eyebrow gel to have on hand to tame any wild brows!
Countercontrol SOS Acne Spot Treatment – Great to have on hand for an occasional breakout.
