Talk about the biggest shock that Todd and I have ever received! I won’t get into all the details, but here’s the thing. We had basically said no about having another baby – until my 35th birthday. Then it hit me that, for me personally, this year was the last one that I wanted to try to have a third baby. I realize that you can absolutely have children later, but I did not want to have a newborn so many years after my boys were babies. Now, they will all be 4 years apart, which is such a testament to God’s timing for us.
Though we were technically trying, we did not believe it would actually happen. It took years to get pregnant with both of our boys, and we had two miscarriages before Davis and Ridge. Even my doctor did not think my chances of getting pregnant were very good. So when I took a pregnancy test and it was immediately positive, I about fell over! Todd said he “needed to sit down, and…he felt a little nauseous.” đ We found out right at the beginning of quarantine. It honestly all felt so surreal, that it took us a while to adjust to the news.
This was 5 weeks ago. The bump is much bigger now!
I am a little over 16 weeks now, and I can truly say that we are excited! Nervous, yes. Overwhelmed, yes. Prepared, heck no. But we are feeling pretty darn blessed to be able to welcome another baby into this world! Though our journey to a family of five was not at all how we would have planned it ourselves, the Lord knew better, and He has carried us.
Physically I have been feeling pretty awful. Once I hit 14 weeks, I got some of my energy back, and I was able to start working out again some at 15 weeks. My energy is great in the mornings, but the nausea hits in the afternoons and evenings. I had a few weeks where I was basically in bed nonstop, but Todd carried our family through all of that. He took care of me and the boys without one complaint. He is Superdad.
When we found out that Brian Schindler was offering to do backyard photo sessions during quarantine, we took him up on his offer! He has done family photos for us in the past, and we just love him and his gift for photography. He and his wife came over and were incredibly patient and helpful with the boys. Brian even let the boys snap a few pictures on his camera. These photos are a treasure, and I am so thankful to Brian and Hannah for these!
We told the boys the baby’s gender during the photo session. The pictures are at the bottom of this post! đ I just cried typing that. It still feels like a dream!Â
Telling the boys if it’s a boy or a girl!…
My friend Moira and her daughter have the cutest bracelet company called Pink Flamingo Surcees. Todd and the boys gave me bracelets for Mother’s Day this year that said “Mama,” “Davis,” and “Ridge.” When we found out the gender of this baby, I immediately texted Moira and asked if she could make me another bracelet…
IT’S A BOY! 3 boys! I can still hardly believe it! We thought it was a girl, but goodness, what a gift to be able to be a mom to three boys. And Todd is the greatest example to our sons. Though our house will be loud, messy, maybe a little smelly, full of Legos and lizards, and lots of questions about things that I will defer to my husband, I feel so honored. And Todd is already talking to concrete guys about extending our driveway to make a small basketball “court.” đ
We have no clue about names, so please send any ideas my way! Thank you all for following along on this crazy journey! It means a whole lot to me.

Basketball is life! I have 4 boys and it keeps them busy, active and out of the house for a little while. Congrats boys are the best, smelly and messy but not expensive or dramatic so thereâs that.

Awww! So happy for youâ¤ď¸. I just love my 3 boys! Our 3rd was a surprise (when #2 was 6 months old)âand I remember making a pot roast, while still in disbelief of the reality, and wondering HOW MANY POTATOES & CARROTS am I going to need to cut up for roast when they are teenagersđ. Well, the answer is a lot!! Lol. Also, I came to the same conclusion…we need good men to raise MORE good men in this worldâ and youâre forever the queen! Blessings on the Kingdon Family!
