Being pregnant has caused me to think even more about which products I’m using in our house and on my body. I wanted to put together a list of items I have changed lately, including which prenatal vitamin, probiotic, skincare, makeup, food, cleaning products, home fragrance, and nail polish I have been using. Here are some of my go-to safer products for pregnancy!
My bump is MUCH larger these days. ๐ I think this was at 11 or 12 weeks, and I will be 32 weeks tomorrow (Monday).
Vitamins
This is a personal choice, and I do not want to give out any medical advice, but because I have gotten the question on instagram quite often, I thought I’d share which prenatal vitamin and probiotic I am currently taking.
I take MegaFood brand Baby & Me 2 prenatal vitamin, mainly because it has methyl-folate rather than folic acid. I’d encourage you to do your research on this – not all prenatal vitamins are created equally!
As far as a probiotic goes, you want something with a variety of beneficial bacteria. One of the strains to look for in a probiotic while pregnant is lactobacillus rhamnosus. I trust Klare Labs for their probiotic, and I have also used the MegaFood brand probiotic meant for pregnant women.
I do take magnesium glycinate at night, I take a high-quality omega 3 from my healthcare provider, and I have been taking Leefy Organics Prana, which is a tincture of turmeric and ginger. You can use the code LINDSK for 15% off your first purchase with them! I take buffered vitamin C powder (bought through our pediatrician who I work with) when the boys have had a cold, or I’m feeling run-down.
I am not the greatest at taking my vitamins daily. But I do try and take them often!
P.S. I try really hard not to buy supplements from Amazon. I either buy ours through our functional medicine pediatrician, my functional doc, or through the Pure Formulas website. I have also found my prenatal at Whole Foods and on Thrive Market.
Cleaning Products
I feel 100% okay with using Branch Basics cleaning products while pregnant. With their cleaning concentrate, I do not have to worry about any potentially dangerous fumes, and my kids can help me. We do have someone that cleans our house occasionally, and she uses my Branch Basics as well.
I will wash the baby’s clothes in the Branch Basics laundry detergent, and instead of using any dryer sheets or softener, we only use the wool drying balls, also from Branch Basics.
My code with them is LINDSK10, and that gets you a discount on the starter set!
I keep distilled white vinegar on hand, along with Young Living Thieves cleaner for any time I want a double-dose of cleaning power.
Skincare
Beautycounter for pretty much everything! I have not cleaned up my haircare products yet, but that is next on my mental list. Honestly I do not wash my hair all that often, and I only use dry shampoo once or twice a week. I am not currently doing any sweaty workouts, so the hair-washing is at a minimum. ๐
On my face I use their vitamin C serum (love!), the Countertime line, the Overnight Resurfacing Peel (works wonders for cell turnover, and so nice that it is a gentle, pregnancy-safe peel), and the Brightening Oil. I am obsessed with all of these products. It is a wonderful thing to be able to take care of my dry, aging skin, and help prevent melasma, all while pregnant. Now I won’t have to do much damage control after this baby is born, like I had to do with my other boys.
For my body, I love the Body Oil in Citrus Rosemary. It’s so great for my super-dry skin, and safe to put on my belly to help prevent stretch marks. It’s also a nice alternative to perfume, since I’m trying to stay away from fragrance. My skin soaks this up!
Makeup
My go-to morning routine: Skin Twin foundation in color 340 + the concealer + setting powder (on the days my skin is extra moisturized) + blush (either this one in Nectar, or this Color Pinch Cream Blusher in Caramel) + eyebrow pencil or eyebrow gel + a little smudged eyeliner in brown + Ilia mascara + lip gloss in Magnolia shimmer. I do have a Laura Mercier highlighter that isn’t clean, but I will switch to this one when it runs out.
Food
This could be a post entirely on it’s own. But currently, I am still eating gluten free and mostly dairy free. If we go to a restaurant, I do not stress about food that could potentially be cooked in butter, but other than that, I do mostly avoid dairy. No regular cheese or milk for me. Goat’s milk products still seem to be okay.
I try to eat as many plants as possible, but I also eat meat – just not every meal. Eggs are great, too! Basically I try to fill each meal with nutrient-dense foods. I am allowing myself to eat dessert some in the third trimester, but I also don’t want to go overboard with sugar. More plants and less sugar = better gut health.
I am not a believer that pregnancy is a time for a free-for-all with eating, but I am also not counting calories or anything like that! I try to eat plenty of healthy fats, and plenty of protein.
A typical day of eating:
First thing in the morning: Half caffeine coffee with Original Nut Pods, and a tiny bit of stevia with Vital Proteins collagen peptides (just 1 scoop) + lots of water
Breakfast: A smoothie, oatmeal, or eggs with avocado and greens, sometimes a muffin or paleo bread if I have made some; on lazy mornings – a frozen GF waffle with almond butter
Lunch: Usually a large salad with a ton of ingredients, and maybe some chips. I’ve been loving Late July brand grain-free chips, but I usually save my chip snacking for night-time. Bad habit, I know. I do like to add sauerkraut to my lunches for some added probiotics!
Snack: An apple with peanut butter; sometimes a Perfect Bar, however they do have a little dairy in them
Dinner: Depends, but I basically always cook. Todd and Patrick (my brother) help when I need it, and they almost always help with the dishes! After homeschooling and being this pregnant, I’m usually exhausted. We always have a veggie-heavy meal, and a healthy protein, and lately I’ve loved adding more carbs to the meal.
roasted chicken apple sausage, broccoli, onion, mushroom + “cheesy” quinoa
Snack: Every night I have a salty snack, and sometimes a little chocolate. Last week I had NadaMoo vanilla ice cream in the freezer, so I indulged with that. I just ordered some GF peanut butter pretzels from Thrive Market, and holy cow I’m addicted. Healthy? Nope. But this is the time of day that I indulge. I’m sure that’s not a very good idea to eat things like this right before bed, but I’m using pregnancy as an excuse. ๐
Home Fragrance
We haven’t really used candles much the last several months, but I did purchase another diffuser to keep downstairs. I diffuse Young Living essential oils if I want to freshen up the small in the house. ๐
Nail Polish
I shared about this on instagram today, but I have been loving Zoya nail polish. It is free from some of the more dangerous toxins in conventional nail polish, such as formaldehyde. I bought the mini color-lock manicure system, and three colors from Amazon. The colors are Sailor, Katherine, and Jack.
This is the color Sailor.
Hopefully this post is helpful and answers some of the frequently asked questions I receive on social media. I definitely do not think I am handling pregnancy perfectly, but I have tried to clean things up this time around, and use some safer products for pregnancy.

Totally off subject question but what are the shoes youโre wearing in the smoothie bowl picture?? They look so comfortable!
Lindsay says
They are! They are the On Running brand. The style is Cloudstratus: https://www.on-running.com/en-us/products/cloudstratus/womens/white-almond
Kristin says
Hope itโs ok to ask, but has the Prana helped with morning sickness or headaches?
Cara Gonzalez says
I wanted to ask when you started taking Prana and was it a daily routine for you? Why did you take it? Iโve been wanting to take it for aches and pains and swollen feet.
Lindsay says
Hi Cara! I took it a few times a week during pregnancy. I dealt with headaches during my second trimester, and just discomfort from carrying a baby. I think it could definitely help you feel better!
